Breaking: Seven Die As Nigerian Airforce Helicopter Crashes In Kaduna

A report we are monitoring on Channels Television has announced the crash of an Air Force helicopter, which reportedly went down at the site of the old National Defence Academy in Kaduna state.
Additional reports say the helicopter, which was on a routine Air Force training flight was heading to Abuja from the Nigerian Airforce base in Kaduna, when the incident occurred.
According to Daily Post, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)  has confirmed that all seven passengers on board did not survive the crash.

The flight was said to have crashed 10 minutes after take-off at about 6. 47am earlier today, with the pilot, co-pilot, two engineers and three passengers on board, Abusidiqu reports.
A military source who confirmed the incident told reporters that the helicopter crashed  at the old  site of the NDA at about 6.30am .
He said: “We heard a loud sound like bomb blast, when  we came out to confirm what it was ,  we saw flames. After tracing the site ,  we then discovered that it was an Airforce jet that crashed .”
He told The Heat that the crash site was a residential area and some persons were injured. He also revealed that seven dead bodies were recovered from the crash site during resue operations.
One  Alonge, an air commodore, however told Premium Times that he would provide more details on the incident later.
Rescue efforts are going on as officials of NEMA, Kaduna State Emergency Agency (KASEMA) and the Red Cross are on ground.

Girl suicide bomber kills 5, injures 41 in Nigeria

Police say a girl suicide bomber killed five people in an attack at the crowded entrance to a bus station in Damaturu in northeast Nigeria.
Assistant Superintendent Toyin Gbagedesin says 41 people were wounded in the Tuesday morning explosion.
He says the bomber appeared to be about 14 years old.
Suspicion fell on Boko Haram.
Nigeria's homegrown Islamic extremist group has used dozens of girls and women in recent suicide bombings in Nigeria and neighboring Chad, Cameroon and Niger, raising fears it is using kidnap victims.
More than 1,000 have been killed since President Muhammadu Buhari was elected in March with a pledge to annihilate the militants.

Nigeria's ex-national security adviser Dasuki charged

Former Nigeria's national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki

Nigeria's sacked national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has been charged in court with illegally possessing weapons, an official statement has said.
Firearms were seized during a raid on his properties last month, it added.
Mr Dasuki denied any wrongdoing at the time and said the weapons belonged to his security guards.
He is the first senior official of the former government to be charged under President Muhammadu Buhari's rule.

Mr Buhari took office in May after defeating former President Goodluck Jonathan in elections.
In a separate statement, his office said he had ordered an investigation into military equipment bought since 2007.
The investigation was part of an effort to curb corruption and ensure that the military was properly equipped, it added.
Mr Buhari replaced Mr Dasuki and other security chiefs last month in a renewed effort to end a six-year insurgency by militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

The Department of State Security said the decision to charge Mr Dasuki was in line with its commitment to upholding democratic values.
No-one was above the law, no matter how highly placed they were in society, it added in a statement.

Mr Dasuki played a prominent role in the fight against terrorism during Goodluck Jonathan's rule.
Many accused him of not only advising him on security issues, but also of taking over the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence.
It was clear that the defence minister at the time, Aliyu Gusau, was sidelined during the last few months of the Jonathan government.
Mr Dasuki was at the centre of a row over Nigeria's unorthodox arms procurement in 2014, when South Africa seized suitcases packed with millions of dollars of cash at an airport in Johannesburg.
The Nigerian government said the money was intended to purchase weapons for the fight against Boko Haram, and denied allegations of corruption.
Mr Dasuki argued for the postponement of Nigeria's presidential elections earlier this year, citing the security situation.
