The recent trip to Hawaii comes two months following Jolie’s letter to the The New York Times in May revealing, she’d had an elective double mastectomy, after finding out she had the BRCA1 gene linking her to a high risk for breast and ovarian cancers.
“Unbroken” is based on the novel by Laura Hillenbrand, and tells the heroic tale Olympian-turned-WWII prisoner-of-war Louis Zamperini, and will be filmed on location throughout Hawaii.
The star is set to bring her other four children and fiancé Brad Pitt along with her on the island for the eight weeks of filming.
