Arsenal Transfer News: Troy Deeney, Serge Gnabry, Mathieu Debuchy, Fresh Rumours

Arsenal are hoping to convince Watford to part ways with captain Troy Deeney in January, while out-of-favour Serge Gnabry could be sent to the Championship, and two Premier League outfits will fight to sign Mathieu Debuchy.

David Woods of the Daily Star reported the Gunners were hoping to cut a move for Hornets ace Deeney, but the chances of Watford's captain leaving this winter look slim.
Woods provided quotes from Deeney after he was quizzed on the odds of strike partner Odion Ighalo leaving halfway through the season: “The value of selling Odion for, what would he be worth? £20 million, £25 million? Or staying up and getting £200 million? Simple business maths, he’s not going to sell him.”
Deeney evidently understands the logistics that play a hand in the transfer business, and considering how heavily manager Quique Sanchez Flores relies on his talents, it's safe to say Arsenal are in for tough negotiations.
The Gunners target has scored six goals in his last 11 Premier League appearances for the Hornets. Football Manager director and Watford fan Miles Jacobson went into further detail as to why Watford would value Deeney and the safer guarantee of stability rather than a winter sale:
Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger has been in the hunt to boost his attacking ranks after seeing the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffer injuries this season.
Deeney has looked threatening in a support role alongside the prolific Ighalo, and Betway recently highlighted how essential the pair are to the promoted party's hopes of extending their top-flight future:
Elsewhere, Brighton and Hove Albion are in the hunt to sign Gnabry after Arsenal recalled the German from an unsuccessful loan spell at West Bromwich Albion, per the Daily Mail's Simon Jones.
The 20-year-old made just three senior appearances for the Baggies, two of which came in the League Cup, and his chances of first-team minutes would assuredly be better-served in England's second tier.

 

Jones quoted Albion boss Tony Pulis, who said in October that Gnabry wasn't "at that level" to play first-team football for his side, but the Germany under-21 international could have more hope elsewhere.
West Brom are also interested in a move for right-back outcast Debuchy, according to Uche Amako of the Daily Express, who reported a battle with midlands rivals Aston Villa is on the horizon.
