Nigeria: Pandemonium in Onitsha As Bizman Strips Female Police Officer Naked

Onitsha — There was pandemonium, weekend, at the Bridge Head area of the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State when a female police officer, Inspector Tochukwu Ofoegbu accused a notable businessman (names withheld) of molesting and almost stripping her naked.
Inspector Ofoegbu who narrated her ordeal to Crime Alert alleged she was on duty when the big man who owns a park in Onitsha approached her threatened that he would facilitate her removal from Onitsha as he did to one officer named Archibong.
An eye witness who simply gave his name as Tunde, said as soon as the female police officer demanded what she did that would warrant her removal, the furious businessman slapped her first for daring him before commanding his boys to tear her uniform to almost naked situation.
It was gathered that she ran for her dear life into a nearby police post to avoid the peering eyes of the public before the Area Commander, Benjamin Wordu allegedly asked all of them to come to the police Area command headquarters, Onitsha.
In his reaction, another eyewitness and the Coordinator, Campaign for Democracy, Dede Uzor A Uzor, demanded for the immediate arrest of the accused and thorough investigation into the matter with a view to punishing the offender to deter future occurrence. He stated that his organisation has given
the commissioner of police seven days to arrest the man or face protests by human rights groups for his immediate removal from office if he cannot protect the men and women of the force under his command.
Protests by human rights groups:
Efforts to get in touch with the accused businessman to comment on the matter proved abortive yesterday as his phone rang several times without response. However, the victim, Inspector Ofoegbu, confirmed on phone that the businessman actually assaulted her with his boys.
When contacted, the DPO Fegge where the Inspector works, Muikdi Shehu, said he would not speak on the matter that the PPRO is the only person authorized to speak. The PPRO, Emeka Chukwuemeka also declined to comment claiming that he was in Onitsha Area commander's office and would get back to this reporter on the issue. The State police boss, Balah Nassarawa was also said to be out of the state as at the time of going to press.
